Welcome to D&D WARUNG, a culinary gem tucked away in the captivating village of Sidemen, Bali. Located on Jl. Raya Sangkan Gunung-Sidemen, this family-run restaurant may not win any awards for flashy decor, but what it lacks in presentation, it more than compensates with authentic flavor and welcoming hospitality.
Patrons have described D&D WARUNG as a “hidden treasure,” and it’s easy to see why. The love and care poured into each dish are palpable, and the extensive menu boasts a delightful array of traditional Indonesian recipes, all prepared with fresh ingredients and home-cooked goodness. From the savory babi kecap to the comforting sate chicken, diners often find themselves returning for their favorites, as evidenced by numerous glowing reviews.
One visitor, Louisa Emilee, shared, “We stayed in Sidemen for 3 days and came here for lunch every day.” It’s a testament to the delicious offerings that span beyond mere sustenance; they provide an experience steeped in local family life. The opportunity to witness and partake in authentic Balinese culture is an enriching aspect of dining here. Expect heartwarming service and a warm, inviting atmosphere where each meal tells a story.
The reviews overflow with praise for the “amazing meals” that appear as if they've been crafted with love. Another patron, Chiara Canals Cerelli, recommends the Laxe Laxe and the comforting broccoli and pumpkin soup, both examples of how the restaurant caters to diverse palates. With vegetarian options plentiful, it's truly a place where everyone can find joy in their meals.
While some guests have indulged in Western dishes, many advise to go for the local fare. This advice aligns with feedback from Colin McIntosh, who found the spring rolls “amazing” yet again emphasized the robust flavors of their Indonesian offerings. The uniqueness of each dish reflects the culinary journey of the owner, who previously cooked on a river cruise ship in Germany before bringing his expertise back home.
So if you find yourself in Bali, I highly recommend visiting D&D WARUNG. It’s more than just a meal; it's a journey into the heart of Balinese cuisine that leaves a lasting impression long after the last bite. Don’t miss out on this exquisite experience!

A hidden treasure! The family business provides authentic deep tastes in their wide range of dishes. For a penny. Forget the hotel-restaurants and contact them; to reserve and to be chauffeured to and from your location in the area. And if you are lucky, you get a taste of daily Balinese family life.

We stayed in sidemen for 3 days and came here for lunch everyday. Wow, the food is amazing and the prices are very good. Family run restaurant I urge you to support! Highly recommend the babi kecap! I saw another review saying ignore the western food and just go for the Indonesian menu and I couldn’t agree more as someone who had both. Incredible, homemade and home cooked goodness.

No doubt the best meals we had on Bali so far. The place doesn't look like much, but the food was top noch, especially at those prices. We were there three nights and loved it every single time. Plenty of vegetarian choices as well, no problems with any of the ingredients, all safe. The owner / cook has worked as a Cook on a river cruise ship in Germany and now runs the place back home together with his family. That might explain why also The European dishes Taste very authentic. All in all, that place is a 11/10. Definitely gonna come back should we ever be back in Sidemen.

We were on our way out for the day and it started raining, we stumbled upon this wonderful quaint restaurant. Since we only ate some fruits for breakfast, we were HUNGRY. Ordered soups, spaghetti and a Balinese flavoured Pizza. All of which were absolutely delicious. FANTASTIC. Very sweet service, so kind and polite. Each dish was freshly cooked and perfectly seasoned.

D&D Warung was hands down the best meal we had in Sidemen, and easily one of the tastiest of our entire Bali trip. Every dish, from the local ayam kecap to international options like fried calamari, was packed with flavor and clearly made with care. I saw a few reviews mention that the owner has worked abroad as a chef, and you can definitely taste the experience in every bite. The one drawback was the wait time. We arrived shortly after 7 PM with just a few other tables occupied (mostly couples), but it took over an hour for our appetizers to come out, and another 40 minutes for the mains. While the food was absolutely worth the praise, the long delay made the overall experience less enjoyable. If the kitchen can improve its pace, this restaurant would be near perfect.
